Dr. James Holmes is a licensed psychologist in Arizona who several years of experience in clinical and forensic assessment and psychotherapy. He received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Arizona State University and earned his Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degrees from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University.
While in graduate school, he gained experience in neuropsychological assessment, psychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, teaching, and supervision of peer helpers and educators.
Dr. Holmes has worked at a state hospital since 2010. His responsibilities include psychological and forensic assessment, milieu management, neuropsychological assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation, consultation, treatment planning, and supervision He has trained and supervised predoctoral students and interns, therapists, and postdoctoral psychology staff. He has also worked in forensic-based private practices since 2011 conducting forensic evaluations and providing psychotherapy.
Dr. Holmes has experience working with individuals with a variety of conditions that include depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, paraphilic disorders, trauma disorders, adjustment disorders, intellectual disabilities, and neurocognitive disorders.
Dr. Holmes is a member of the American Psychological Association and Scottsdale Psychological Society. He serves as the president-elect for the Scottsdale Psychological Society. Dr. Holmes was a "40 under 40" honoree of the Phoenix Business Journal.
